  • The following link on our website shows how our curriculum is framed by the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme. If you scroll down that page you can click on the ‘Curriculum Map Website’ button for information that shows how each subject is mapped across each year, showing what is being taught when.
  • Each class has a class whiteboard that informs parents of what children are learning each week and keeps parents up to date with any messages.

Response

  • All children on our SEN register receive additional support and interventions for their individual needs. This could  include: speech and language support,  additional  phonics, fine and gross motor skills, reading and spelling intervention, additional maths, sensory processing support, social communication and interaction provision, as well as emotional and mental health support.
  • Learning is adapted for children with dyslexia and specific resources are provided to help support these children make progress.

Fabulous Females – Friday 28th March, drop in between 2:15pm – 3:00pm

We warmly invite all the fabulous females in our community to join us at school on Friday, between 2:15 pm and 3:00 pm, to celebrate Mother’s Day. We welcome mothers, or any other significant female figure in a child’s life, to participate in a special activity with their child.

Starfish Malawi

Following the visit from Chris Knott from Starfish Malawi, the Horsmonden Huddle have proudly announced that we intend to send our friends at Chapita Primary some resources in the next shipping container in May.

The Huddle have 2 ideas:

  1. To fill a water bottle with stationery items
  2. To fill a small shoe box with stationery items, small toys

The idea is that children can find a pre-loved water bottle (that is still fully functional) from home, or a small shoe box to fill with pre-loved items that are still of good quality. For anyone wishing to donate, please bring your boxes/water bottles in after Easter.

Horsmonden Playground Renovation Working Party

The Parish Council needs your input! They’re forming a working party to design renovations for the playground next to Horsmonden Kindergarten and are looking for a parent to participate. If you’re interested, please email Anna Blyth, Deputy Clerk, Horsmonden Parish Council: deputyclerk@horsmonden-pc.gov.uk

Parking – Hoath Meadow

I’ve had reports from Hoath Meadow residents about parents parking on the pavements again. I  understand parking can be challenging, but please avoid parking on any pavement in the village. When pavements are blocked, people with young children are forced to walk in the road, which is very dangerous.

Cricket Club

I am pleased to share there are still a handful of places available at our new Cricket Club – Calypso Cricket. Calypso Cricket aims to adapt the traditional idea of coaching cricket, building on the basics to coach the more entertaining aspects of the game, from the flamboyant shots to spinning it round corners. Calypso will be offering after school coaching sessions at Horsmonden on Thursdays and for more information and details of how to book, please follow the link

Ordering Lunches on MCAS

I’m happy to share that the MCAS lunch ordering system is now in use throughout the whole school. Thank you to everyone who has started using it to order lunches for their children. Our aim is to have all parents ordering through the app, which will allow us to move away from on-the-day orders after Easter. We appreciate your cooperation as we make this transition.

As always, If you have any feedback, questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact me. You could catch me on the gate in the morning/afternoon, email, or make an appointment at the school office.

Kind regards
Hayley Sharp
