Dear Parents
It was great to see so many parents attend our Parent Consultations this week. I hope you found the meetings informative and enjoyed viewing your child’s work. The next formal feedback to parents will be in the form of End of Year Reports in July. Again, you will be informed about your child’s attainment and whether they are ‘working below, working at or working above’ the expectation for their year, as well as finding out about their progress in other areas of the curriculum.
Mrs Mcleish
Following a change in leadership at Paddock Wood Primary Academy, Mrs Mcleish will be leaving Horsmonden to take on the role of Vice Principal at Paddock Wood from September. As happy as I am for Mrs Mcleish to receive the recognition she deserves by moving to a school 3 times the size of Horsmonden, I will also miss her greatly. She has been an invaluable support to me personally and professionally, as well as being well liked and respected by children, staff and parents alike. I have no doubt her knowledge, experience, dedication and bubbly personality will all shine through at Paddock Wood, just as it does here.
For this reason, a recruitment campaign will begin over Easter to find a new Vice Principal to start in September.
Parking
Following on from my emails to parents about parking during drop off and pick up, I am pleased to say that I’ve started working with Police Constable Geelan. Many of you will have seen him with me yesterday afternoon where I highlighted the problem areas. I am pleased to say that he will be a frequent visitor during drop off and collection and will instruct parents to move their vehicles if they park on corners or obstruct pavements, just as he did yesterday.
FoHPS Update – Fundraising
I’m delighted to report that since September, FoHPS have raised £3,035.94! Please see the attached flyer for further details and a profit breakdown for each event. Thank you to everyone that has supported a FoHPS event this year, and also to the committee themselves, for giving up a considerable amount of their own time to run the events.
Magic Show – Friday 3rd May, 3:45pm and 5:30pm
The next big fundraiser for FoHPS is the Magic Show, run by Professional Magician Simon Rosselli of ‘Amigo’s Magic’ and the world famous ‘Magic Circle’. Tickets will be priced at £6 each and will be available to purchase on MCAS from Monday 15th April. Please note that there are a limited number of tickets available for each performance so please order quickly (from 15th April) to avoid disappointment.
Please see the attached colouring sheet competition for children to complete prior to the event. Completed sheets should be taken to the school office in advance for a chance to help the magician on stage. Paper copies are available at the school office on request.
Easter Panto – Beauty and the Beast at The Sinden Theatre, Tenterden
Our very own Lylie, in Year 4, will be performing in the pantomime ‘Beauty and the Beast’ this Easter. She will be in both performances on the Thursday and Friday.
Please see the following link to book tickets if you’d like to go along to support her: https://www.sindentheatre.com/events/beauty-beast-pantomime Lylie – I’m sure you will be great and I look forward to hearing all about it after Easter, good luck!
FoHPS Summer Fair – Saturday 8th June, 12pm – 4pm
In preparation for the summer fair and in keeping with tradition, we are kindly asking parents to donate certain items, such as toys, sweets and bottles, on certain weeks, starting on Monday 22nd April. Please see the attached flyer for details of what is needed and when.
FoHPS Easter Egg Hunt
This afternoon, the children were visited by a very mischievous Easter Bunny, who played tricks on the children, entertained them with silly dancing and made them laugh, lots! Thank you to FoHPS for organising the event and providing every child with an Easter egg.
Thank you for your continued support again this term and I hope you all have a lovely Easter. I look forward to seeing everyone back in school on Monday 15th April.
Kind regards
Hayley Sharp
